Cory L. Calendine, M.D., an orthopaedic surgeon, has joined the physicians at The Bone & Joint Clinic specializing in Adult Reconstruction, the surgical treatment of hip and knee arthritis.
Calendine comes to The Bone & Joint Clinic from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency. He then completed a year of subspecialty training in hip and knee replacement just outside Washington, DC under Drs. Charles and Gerard Engh, leaders in the field.
He received his medical degree with highest honors from the University of Tennessee, Memphis, and a bachelor of science degree in biology from Freed-Hardeman University, where he graduated summa cum laude.
Calendine previously was a laboratory researcher for the National Institutes of Health, NIAID, in Bethesda, Md., and a clinical investigator for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was the recipient of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community of Man and God Scholarship, which acknowledges academic achievement and strength of character. In 2000, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the Imhotep Society and as a Gooch Scholar.
In his spare time, Calendine enjoys golf, racquetball, weightlifting, movies and youth ministry.
